Rooted in Jesus: Grounding children’s faith in an unsteady world

For 16 years, the Toronto Children’s Ministry Conference has gathered leaders across church traditions to proclaim Jesus to the next generation. Our theme this year, Rooted in Jesus, is an invitation to cultivate a faith that is grounded, relational, and resilient. Not a faith that depends on circumstances but one that is anchored in the unchanging presence of Christ. Together, we will explore how to nurture spaces where children can slow down, belong, and encounter Jesus in ways that form lasting trust. We will consider practices, postures, and ministry approaches that help children grow deep roots so that when life feels uncertain, their faith remains steady. Our anchoring verse is Colossians 2:6, 7 “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Tend Your Roots

This year, as we explore what it means to be Rooted in Jesus, we want to make space not only to learn about nurturing deep roots in children, but to tend to our own. Ministry can be full, demanding, and meaningful. Those who care for others need space to be cared for too. Throughout the afternoon, you’ll have opportunities to slow down, be still, and reconnect with Jesus through gentle, contemplative practices. Choose from two small-group Soul Care experiences, each limited to 15 participants, or sign up for a personal conversation with one of our spiritual directors. Come as you are. There is nothing to accomplish, just space to be with Jesus and allow Him to nourish your soul.
