Workshop
Called by Name: Principles from the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Method for Children’s Ministry
Children’s incredible capacity for joyfully receiving the message of Jesus’s love can be nurtured and filled from the youngest of ages with developmentally appropriate guidance such as that found in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd approach to faith formation. This workshop will outline principles of children’s spirituality that are foundational to the Montessori-based approach of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd method, focusing on those that provide unique insights into children’s encounters with God in any faith formation setting. Our intention is to provide reflection points and practical suggestions derived from our experiences with this richly scriptural method that, although developed in liturgical church settings, can nevertheless inform underlying approaches to children’s ministry in any denomination.
Natalie Lundy, the Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry at Little Trinity Church will be co-presenting with Janelle.
